A Nice Cigarette.

Slim, sleek, and slender,

Fiery, hot, and smoky,

So easy to buy from the corner,

And bring home to enjoy.

People can judge,

Saying it’s bad,

That they kicked the habit,

Listing people who died.

I try to go without,

I try to occupy my fingers,

But the scent lingers,

Tempting me with another go.

So when no one’s looking,

I go for a walk at night,

Passing the shuttered shops,

In search of addiction.

And after the long pull,

And the surge in my veins,

I’ll lie in my bed,

And finish with a cigarette.
