Just One More Please
When we were young we were old,
We always did what we were told.
We should have been,
What only now we have seen.
We could have lived instead of waiting to die,
We’d have failed happily if only we gave a try.
Now the nights are short like our time,
Our heartbeats knell like a chime.
If only we knew this was it,
If we knew no one would give a shit.
We would have ruled when the town was dead,
We would have loved many in our bed.
All those we would have kissed,
Are too long gone now to be missed.
Take back all lessons learned,
Trade us the years we burned.
I can live right if I live twice,
It’s not my fault I had no vice.
Give us back our youth,
A second chance to shoot.
We are for two full of regret,
To grow old and forget.
Give us one more chance,
So we can waste on drink and dance,
Again.
