Wisdom On The Greens

Hands on the grass,
And feet in the air;
An attempt was made,
That’s all there is to care.

Lush and yielding,
Springing and spry,
A supple, grassy pitch,
On which to bathe and lie.

Shaggy for the bees,
Short for the young,
Cut where the old have time,
And mucky where barks are sung.

A small reprieve,
Against drab, dry, driveways,
Heavy, hungry, heaving slabs,
And how the chunky, chortling car disobeys.

Roads aren’t for play,
Of little good, if any,
Besides tearing up the living,
And costing a pretty penny.

So please plant a seed,
Deep under the dirt,
If you wish to keep life,
Flourishing here on Earth.
